The Hot Licks crew started our the season with a Friday session test-and-tune. Eager to test the new equipment, we made a planned half-track pass in the afternoon. Shutting it off a little before half track, we found our full 1/4 mile time to be a 6.08. The half track numbers were looking good.

We went into Saturday fairly confident with the numbers we were running, however, all Saturday sessions were cancelled due to wind so we did not make any passes.

The Sunday racing order was determined based on points last season, so we found ourselves in the number 2 spot, set up to race Bob Parish in the Dragonator first round. We won first round and second round took a bye into the finals.

During first round, we kicked the number 8 rod out the side of the block, but we took out one of our spare motors and were able to turn it around for the next round.

Our opponent for the finals was the Speed Sports Special which had been running very consistent this weekend. On this run, we pushed the head gaskets and had ourselves a little fire about half track, allowing Speed to pull ahead and take the win with a 4.68.
